Chikako MAJIMA

After studying for her bachelor's degree in Japan and attending a journalism school (EFJ) in Paris, Chikako Majima first worked in Osaka as an editor at The Big Issue Japan. Since 2012, she has been teaching Japanese at university while pursuing her research in anthropology, at INALCO (Master 2, 2015) and then at EHESS, where she followed the speciality "Ethnology and Social Anthropology" (2017).

FFJ/Christian Polak Prize winner

Chikako Majima received the 2018 FFJ/Christian Polak Prize for her report entitled « Le patrimoine culturel immatériel japonais : la préservation et la transmission de l’Ainu koshiki buyô アイヌ古式舞踊, danse traditionnelle aïnoue » (Japanese intangible cultural heritage: the preservation and transmission of Ainu koshiki buyô アイヌ古式舞踊, traditional Ainu dance).
