Hideko Magara is Professor of Political Science at Waseda University. Her research focuses on the mutual impacts between party politics and economic policies in capitalist democracies. She is the author of various books and articles, including Democracy and Accountability: Globalized Political Responsibility (2010, in Japanese). She co-edited The Politics of Structural Reforms: Social and Industrial Policy Change in Italy and Japan (2013, with S. Sacchi). She is an associate member of the Science Council of Japan and former President of the Japan Association for Comparative Politics.
